Beware people! I'm from Australia. Shaadi.com is an organisation that has defrauded me off my money! I made the mistake of opening up a trial membership with them. After that staff from Shaadi.com incessantly harassed me through emails and other communication to buy a membership through them. I buckled under the pressure after a while and bought a 3 month subscription. Approximately 1.5 months into my membership term my membership was cancelled without any notice and without any reason or notification provided to me. When I enquired over Live Chat on the Shaadi.com website as to the reason why my paid subscription had been cancelled I was given no reason other than its our policy that we can require personal information from customers whenever we want. I was asked to provide a photocopy of my passport, driver's license, proof of work and where I work (payslips) and photocopies of my degrees. I was horrified at the prospect of sending my private details to a dating organisation who had no legal requirement to request such information. Concerned for my privacy and my identity being stolen, I refused to provide Shaadi.com such very private details. Shaadi.com already had my phone number, credit card information and my pictures on their database - they had absolutely no need to ask for my private information. It is none of their business where I work, how much I earn, what passport I have, my residency status or where I live. Request for such information is a breach of privacy and for all I know could lead to identity theft. I explained to the consultant that Identity theft is rife all over the world. In Australia, the authorities routinely discourage Australian Citizens to send any personal information to anyone online including photocopies of our passport, driver's license or photocopies of our degrees or employment information. The consultant would not accept my opinion. I asked him for a refund for the remaining term but he refused to reimburse my subscription monies for the unused portion of my membership on the grounds that if I do not provide my private information as requested then it is Shaadi.com policy not to refund the remaining subscription fees. Since my complaint to Shaadi.com I have found the internet to be littered with complaints similar to mine. I do not know why Shaadi.com is allowed to conduct business as their activities are against ethical and fair practice. I have found Shaadi.com to have engaged in unscrupulous and fraudulent activities when dealing with me as a customer. They have essentially betrayed my trust and swindled me off my money! I would strongly advise other innocent people to reconsider doing business with Shaadi.com. To say that I am disappointed in Shaadi.com is an understatement!

In summary, I would not recommend Shaadi to a friend.
